Local Oquawka U.S. Veterans, volunteers and scouts from Boy Scout Troop 61 placed flags on veterans graves buried in the Oquawka cemetery. in their honor for Memorial Day.
"This is an opportunity to teach our scouts and young volunteers to pay respect to the Veterans who fought for our freedom" says Scott Ray, Scoutmaster of Troop 61. Although we assist the Veterans with this project, we are only helping hands and are honored to be asked to help."
"There are so many dedicated Veterans and volunteers that have passed prior to, and since our troop began assisting with the placement of the flags 20 plus years ago. And now, we as a group honor them."
Please take special note of the men near the back of this picture...THEY are VETERANS and VOLUNTEERS who themselves have fought for our freedom or have family and friends who fought for our freedom.
They are: Frank Robbins, US Army; Joe Boughton, US Army; Mike Dooley, US Army; Jim Louck, US Army; Jimmy Thompson, US Marines; Ron Chapin; Kenny McKee; Mike McKee, US Army; and Ryan Anderson.

Sunday, May 26th members of the VFW and American Legion Honor Guard from Monmouth IL paid tribute to our fallen soldiers at the Oquawka Cemetery.
