Stronghurst American Legion Post #765 Salutes Fallen Veterans

The storms held off on Sunday, May 26th, while the Stronghurst American Legion Post #765 presented their annual Memorial Day Service at the Stronghurst Cemetery in honor of our fallen veterans.

Veteran Jim Blender, who is the Commander of the American Legion Post #765, introduced the speaker for the day, Rev. Dan Siems of the Raritan Baptist Church.

Rev. Siems read the famous Gettysburg Address which was written by President Abraham Lincoln and closed with a Memorial Day prayer.

American Legion Auxiliary President Fran Work assisted by a boy scout read the names of veterans buried in the Stronghurst Township Cemeteries of Olena, Watson, Maple Grove, Hopper, and Stronghurst.

The program concluded with taps by Rev. Dan Siems and a 21 gun salute by the American Legion Post #765.

Sunday, May 26th members of the American Legion Post #765 and Auxiliary at Stronghurst paid tribute to our fallen soldiers at the Stronghurst Cemetery.
