Greetings ta ever one in Western Illinois and all readers of "The Quill".
It shore has remained hot across the Midwest with some surprises of strong wind and thunderstorms that seemed to make the corn in these parts take a bow for a few days.
DOWN CORNS
Neighbors say some corn was even flat but as the sun came back up the crop is show'n signs of recovering. With the extra heat, though, the some rain gives a welcome drink to the crops around. It seems sweet corn may not be a comin' til August due to the priorities of finally gettin' the crops in first after the long spell of bad weather in the Spring. There always seems like there's something out to get ya. Better be careful to avoid'n the poison ivy and deer ticks, thick in these parts.
If'n we could only avoid so many fees and taxes.
COST'N TAXPAYERS BILLIONS
The boys and I were discussing the follow'n letter they had received and all agreed to the same thing. It's gotta be shared with the readers of The Quill.
The boys had been complain'n about the increase and new taxes in Illinois and how many are movin' to other states, but this letter about costing taxpayers plenty, hits every state in the U.S.A. in what most of us considered land of prosperity if'n you're a hard work'n upstand'n American.
