Rivals on Main II, located in the former Tastee-Freez building at 201 West Main Street in La Harpe, opened their new business on June 19.
Robert and Missy Root along with Jim Smith and Kim (Root) Doorn-bos-Smith are the owners of Rivals on Main in Stronghurst (formerly Kone Korner) and they are excited to bring Rivals On Main II at the La Harpe location.
Robert and Kim's roots run deep in the restaurant business as their grandfather, Bob Cole began the first Kone Korner in Stronghurst. A few years before Bob's death, Bob's daughter Janet Root purchased the business and ran Kone Korner. The owners are still seeking items of school sport memorabilia for their restaurant's dˇcor. Kim states, "it can be any sport from any school". They have received several items for display, but contact them if you have pictures, plaques, jerseys, etc that you have to offer.
Kim compliments her excellent group of workers. "They are doing a fantastic job," she said. She also remarked how much she appreciated how everyone has welcomed them into the community and how patient they have been as they work out the kinks in the first days of business.
