Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbors, John and Ashley Carpenter of Stronghurst.

John and Ashley both grew up near La Harpe; John, north of Terre Haute and Ashley, south of La Harpe.

John is the son of Randall and Linda Carpenter of Terre Haute. His grandparents are the late Betty and Howard Butts of Burlington, IA and the late Oramel and Mary Dell Carpenter of Terre Haute.

John has a sister, Joelene and brother-in-law Dave Sibley, of Bartonville.

Ashley is the daughter of Joe and Brenda Sparrow of La Harpe. Her grandparents are Richard and Janet Apt of Terre Haute and the late James and Bertha Sparrow of La Harpe.

Ashley has one brother and sister-in-law, Justin and Megan Sparrow of Terre Haute.

John graduated from La Harpe High School in 2003 and he has two welding degrees from Johnson Community College, Kansas City. He currently works for BNSF Railroad in Galesburg.

Ashley graduated from Illini West High School in 2008 and from Western Illinois University in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising.

She currently works for Chem Gro Inc. in La Harpe.

John and Ashley have one daughter, Ava, who will turn 4 in May. Ava is a Pre-K student at West Central.

John and Ashley's hobbies include golfing, riding trails, kayaking, and taking Ava swimming or to the park. They try to keep Ava busy with outdoor activities and they like to go camping and canoeing on Current River each year. Ashley says "spontaneous weekend trips are our specialty".

Ashley's motto for life is "Enjoy life as a family" and "Be kind".
