Christmas Is Almost Here!

It's less than a week until Christmas and although my grandkids all know the real reason for the season is Jesus's birth, they are also excited about what is under the tree on Christmas morning.

My six kids are scattered so all will not be home to Grandma and Grandpa's so I traveled this past weekend to Texas and Colorado to see them.

At Troy and Erica's in Texas, their girls were watching Elf and holiday shows on television and they were getting ready to make their annual gingerbread houses with their dad.

Erica was scurrying to buy some last minute presents and the yard and the house was decorated with holly, wreaths, and trees.

Troy took me out for breakfast and found that our favorite place was packed with no room in the parking lot. It was time to go to a new place that he liked where the food was excellent but Texas size. It was impossible to eat all of it... homemade cinnamon and pumpkin breads was brought to the table with our coffee.

My order of two scrambled eggs looked like four with an order of bacon which was 4 oversized slices and a very large oval bowl of cheesy grits and a large biscuit with jam.

I had ordered fruit and instead of a small cup it came on a plate with large chunks of fresh melons, pineapple, and strawberries. I was given a good sized order of "breakfast potatoes" too! When I was finished, my plate hardly looked like I had eaten, but leftovers are always a good thing.

At Darci's in Colorado the yard and house was also decorated with holly and lights with a large tree and many other trees in each room.

Gracie had made thumbprint cookies which quickly disappeared, the table was covered with Christmas cards everyone was helping to make for relatives and friends. The Christmas puzzle was on the card table and Christmas music was playing. Darci and I shopped in the afternoon Saturday and enjoyed ourselves

Sunday, we all went to Timberline Church in Fort Collins and I took their annual Christmas photo afterwards.

We worked on our second puzzle, as the four grandchildren played Christmas carols they had learned on the piano. They serenaded us with several songs... O Come All Ye Faithful, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, etc. Lydia, 13, hand made and wrote touching letters to her parents for under the tree.

It will now be complete as our other four children with their families plan to come next weekend.

Michael and I will attend Candlelight services at our church as we rejoice in the best gift-the birth of Jesus-our Lord and Saviour.

May you and your family and friends enjoy a blessed Christmas as you celebrate!
