La Harpe City Council Meets

The LaHarpe City Council met September 24, 2018, at City Hall at 7:41 pm for the regular meeting, following a Special meeting at 6:00 pm to discuss the Letter of Compliance, with Lynn Armstrong, for the LaHarpe Water Improvements.

Answering roll call were: Dave Clover, Jerry Burford, Kelly Harkey, Randy Shumaker, Greg Wisslead, Brian Covert, Treasurer-Maggie Link, City Clerk-Lucretia McPeak, and Mayor Katherine Hasten-Reed.

Also present: Larry Finch, Megan Crook, Dan Gillett, Christopher Scholz, Rick Beal, Greg Butler, Bradon Finch, Darrell Kraft, and Michael Rodeffer.

Everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Public comment:

Darrell Kraft addressed the council concerning Illini West signs at each entrance of town.

Dan Gillett reported the new door is in at the Museum.

Larry Finch reported truck issues, with a recall notice.

City Clerk McPeak asked the council to approve appropriating funds from Motor Fuel Tax to pay Central Stone Co. $471.44.

She also announced the Consolidated Election will be April 2, 2019. The Offices up for Election for a 4 year term are: Mayor, Treasurer, City Clerk, 1st Ward Alderman, 2nd Ward Alderman, 3rd Ward Alderman, and a 2 year unexpired term for 3rd Ward Alderman. She has Nominating Petitions available.

The Mayor, on behalf of the Council expressed sympathy to the McKeown family, and thoughts, and prayers go out to them, along with the Finch family.

Megan Crook reported they are waiting on permits for the LaHarpe Water Improvements.

There was discussion on the Bradon Finch Judgement (fines). This will be addressed at the next meeting.

There was a discussion on a street light at N. 2nd Street. No action was needed.

There was discussion on the Illini West signs at each entrance to town. The council will check into this, and report later.

The color of the water tower painting was discussed.

Auditor Greg Butler went over the City's Audit with the Council.

City wide cleanup date is set for October 5, 2018.

The Council went to Executive Session from 8:47 p.m. until 9:07 p.m. to discuss probable/imminent litigation (OMA Sec. 2(c)(11)-{5ILCS 120/2 ( c)(11)},{5ILCS 120/2 (c )(21)}, 5ILCS 120/2.06}, and any other topics allowed.
