Biggsville UMC Celebrated 150 Years

The congregation of the Biggsville United Methodist Church celebrated their 150th Anniversary on September 30th with a special service which included the Oquawka and Gladstone United Methodist Churches.

Pastor Howard Ross led the service and introduced previous pastors that had served the church.

Their guests included Bob and Sheila Fitz from Rock Island, Pastor Carol Stufflebeam from Quincy, Roberta Robbins from Burlington, Iowa, and Pastor Jon Warren from Colona.

Each pastor spoke to the congregation and shared some of their memories while they were serving at the Biggsville church.

Special music was provided by Sherri Walters, Kristi DeWitt, and the District Superintendent Stephen Granadosin.

The Witness to His Word was also presented by D.S. Stephen Granadosin.

After the service, the congregation was invited to a lunch provided by the ladies of the church. Beautiful cakes made by Janet Bohnenkamp topped off the meal. Many who came stayed to visit and reminisce about various memories they had in the church.

As a special project, the church set a goal of collecting 150 cans for the local food pantries. A total of 189 cans were generously given for this project and will be delivered this week to assist our food pantries.

The organizers expressed their appreciation to everyone who attended and those who donated to help make this 150th celebration special.
