Community Icon Changing Careers

In appreciation for her years of service, cake and punch were provided at R&M Market and Floral on Friday, May 4 for customers stopping by to wish Rita well.

After 41 years, Rita Siegworth is retiring from the grocery store business. Rita began her career on November 1, 1976 at the Corner Grocery store on Main Street, downtown La Harpe.

Through her career, the store has been Corner Grocery, Gene and Bev's, R&D Foods, and currently R&M Market and Floral.

Rita began her new career, at Fortress Bank in La Harpe, this week. She is looking forward to fewer hours and more family time.

She and her husband, Greg, currently have three grandchildren and will welcome two more within the next few weeks.

Rita's smile and one-of-a-kind personality will certainly be missed at the store, but everyone will look forward to seeing her at the bank.

Rebecca Quivey, owner of R&M Market and Floral says Mike Hammon is currently filling in as meat cutter. Mike comes from Fairway Foods with 35 years of experience and will be helping out through the summer.
