The Wisdom of Barnyard Bruke: -Getting Older -Electoral College -God's Creation

Greetings ta ever one in western Illinois and all readers of "The Quill".

Thursday, June 21 is the first day of Summer. I'm a hope'n we already by then will have received or will receive a good refresh'n rain fer the crops.

Any ways we will have ta be satisfied with whatever the good Lord gives us.

GETTING OLDER

1. My goal for 2018 was to lose just 10 pounds. Only 15 to go.

2. Ate salad for dinner. Mostly croutons & tomatoes. Really just one big round crouton covered with tomato sauce. And cheese FINE, it was a pizza. I ate a pizza.

3. How to prepare Tofu:

4. I just did a week of cardio after walking into a spider web.

5. I don't mean to brag, but I finished my 14-day diet food in 3 hours and 20 minutes.

6. A recent study has found women who carry a little extra weight live longer than men who mention it.

7. Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

8. Senility has been a smooth transition for me.

9. Remember back when we were kids and every time it was below zero outside, they closed school.

10. I may not be that funny or athletic or good lookin' or smart or talented. I forgot where I was goin' with this.

11. I love bein' over 70. I learn somethin' ever day and ferget 5 others.

12. A thief broke into our house last night. He started searchin' fer money so I got up and searched with him.

13. I think I'll just put an "Out of Order" sticker on my forehead and call it a day.

14. When it gets ta November 4, 2018, Daylight Savings Time comes ta an end. Don't ferget to set yer bathroom scale back 10 lbs. on Saturday night.

15. Just remember, once yer over the hill, ya begin to pick up speed!

Electoral College

In their infinite wisdom, the founders of our country created a structure called the "Electoral College" as a control system and to ensure the individual states were fairly represented.

Otherwise one or two densely populated areas would speak for the whole of the nation.

It was not created as a device to favor Democrats, Republicans, Whigs, Tories or any other political affiliation.

It was created as a system of "checks and balances" to guard against any small vocal area, with a specific agenda, speaking for the whole of the nation.

The following lists of statistics should put an end to the argument as to why the electoral college makes sense:

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.

Trump won 3,084 of them. Clinton won 57.

There are 62 counties in New York State

Trump won 46 of them.

Clinton won 16.

Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.

In the 5 counties that encompass NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond and Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump.

In other words, these five (5) counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote for the entire country!

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.

When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should indicate the outcome of a national election.

Large, densely populated cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) do not and should not speak for the rest of our country... and somehow the geniuses who founded our country understood this and created a system to avoid that circumstance.

And now you understand the supreme importance of the Electoral College.

God's Creation

And now fer some enterestn' facts about what God created:

OUR GOD:

(notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!)

See God's Wisdom in the making of an Elephant:

How wise the Lord is in all His works of Creation!

Amazing! :there's more...

The waves of the sea roll in on shore, twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalk.

God has caused the flowrs to blossom at certain specified times during the day.

Linnaeus, the Great Botanist, once said that if he had a Conservatory containing the right kind of Soil, Moisture, and Temperature he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed.

The lives of each of us may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory, if we will only entrust Him with our lives.

If we try to regulate are own lives, we will have only Mess and Failure.

Only God, who made our brains and hearts, can successfully guide them to a profitable end.

When you carry the Bible, Satan has a headache; when you open itm he collapses

When he sees you reading it, he loses his strength, and when you stand on the Word of God, Satan can't hurt you!

And did you also know: Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil - it has no point!

Well, there ya have it then- something fer the boys ta dwell on fer a spell.

Have a good rest of the week ta each and ever one of you'ns.

Hope'n ta see ya in church soon with yer family and loved ones.

Remember, wherever ya are, whatever ya be a do'n "BE A GOOD ONE!"

Keep on smilen

Catch ya later
