by Aryanne Westfall, The Quill

Sammy Spiker, 7 years of age, lives in Stronghurst and was born on May, 26th, 2011 in Peoria.

"My mom was in the hospital before she had me and I was born 15 weeks early and weighed only 1 lb 3.4 oz.!"

Sammy is currently on summer vacation and when he goes back to school he will be in 2nd grade.

When in school Sammy has a "special" helper and best buddy named Sara Hull. Sara helps to make sure he stays safe in school and has all the extra help he needs.

Sammy also said he participated in the "Couragous Smiles Track Meet" through the school which takes place in Carthage every Spring before school is out.

When asked what he does in his spare time Sammy said, "I love to ride the golf cart around town with grandma and grandpa (Debbie and Jerry Spiker) and I am really enjoying spending time in my backyard.

I like to play on my trampoline, swing set and my brand new swimming pool with my brother Alex".

Sammy is also very serious about his sweets.

"My favorite foods are tacos, macaroni and cheese and waffles. I also love M&M's, they are my favorite candy!"

Sammy also has one dog named Jackson. "He is a boxer and he is older then me!" he said.

Sammy's parents are Tiffany and Dusin Spiker of Stronghurst and his big brother is Alex Cooper who is 15.

His grandparents are Jerry and Debbie Spiker also of Stronghurst and Pam and Ralph Martin of Carman.

Sammy joins all the other kids in and around Henderson County who are wishing their dads (and granddads) a "Happy Fathers Day" this Sunday.
