The La Harpe Eagles defeated the Southeastern Suns 45-32 this past week to capture the Hancock County 8th grade boys basketball tournament. The game was tied 20-20 at halftime.
Coach Hopper was very pleased with how the team responded in the second half.
"We played a good first half and we challenged the boys to come out more aggressive on defense in the second half and to make sure we won the rebounding battle."
The Eagles only gave up two points in the 3rd quarter and led 30-22 going into the 4th.
"That was the best quarter of defense we played all season." Coach Hopper added, "We forced turnovers and got some easy transition baskets. I'm really proud of the effort and fight that the boys showed throughout the game."
Matt McDowell led the Eagles with 16 points. Brett Fairchild and Trayton Anders chipped in 12 and 10 points.
