WCAZ Radio - Era To End

by: Mike Rodeffer, The Quill

WCAZ Radio is going off the air at the end of the 2017 year. It is going to be a sad time and the most local radio station for Hancock County will be sorely missed.

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed listening to all the football, basketball, and baseball games, plus the morning and afternoon farm programs throughout the whole year. It has always been a way to keep up with the local teams during each season.

WCAZ Radio provided its listeners with local news, weather, obituaries, dates and times for visitation and funerals, birthdays and anniversaries, and also Sunday church services.

According to an internet post, Keith Yex, who has been a WCAZ employee for 28 years, is starting an internet-based play-by-play site, The Sports Yex.

A link from the WCAZ website is to be provided.

Greg Phelps is planning to join Yex on a limited basis in the new year.

Hopefully listeners will be able to access the broadcast through the internet.
