Pet Owner Will Be Fined

La Harpe City Park is off-limits for your pets to relieve themselves.

Pet owners will no longer be able to take their pets to the La Harpe City Park as a place to relieve themselves without facing a violation.

At Monday night's board meeting, there was discussion on pets in the City Park and heard it was a City Nuisance Ordinance violation to allow pets to use the City Park as a place to relieve themselves and council said there will be action taken on violators.

In other matters, there was discussion on an IDOT Safe Routes to School Grant (SRTS)-a grant to get children to school safely. This will be put on the next agenda in September.

There was also discussion on a tree that needs to come down on the west side of the City Park. The City crew is able to take down the tree.

There was a report that a citizen had requested to move a sign on their street, and it was suggested the parties come to a council meeting and address the council in person concerning their reasoning to do so.

Larry Finch reported "Ben" passed his power test, and is ready to continue.

Tim Graves reported that the permit for the water tower painting has been obtained. Graves also informed the council a citizen is willing to donate dirt to the City.

City Clerk McPeak asked the council to approve appropriating funds from Motor Fuel Tax to pay Central Stone Co. $65.96. She read the Nuisance Abatement the Attorney had drawn up for unmowed lawns, etc.

She also praised the council on having a 1-page agenda again!

Assistant City Attorney Meckes had the Plat of Liens to be signed by the Mayor.

The La Harpe City Council held their second regular meeting got the month on August 27 at City Hall at 7:00 pm. and everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Answering roll call were: Dave Clover, Jerry Burford, Kelly Harkey, Randy Shumaker, Greg Wisslead , Brian Covert, City Clerk-Lucretia McPeak, and Mayor Katherine Hasten-Reed.

Treasurer-Maggie Link was absent.

Also present: Larry Finch, Tim Graves, Dan Gillett, Will Meckes, Kurt Dittmer, and Richard Wood.

The regular council meeting adjourned at 7:46 pm. All meetings are open to the public (with the exception of executive sessions).
