La Harpe Intermediate Summer Baseball Tournament Champs

By Becky Smith, The Quill

The La Harpe Boys Intermediate Division Summer League Baseball team finished the season by winning the championship of the boys intermediate division tournament held in La Harpe the second week of July.

The La Harpe team had the league's best record to capture the No. 1 seed for the tournament and finished the season with only one loss which came during the regular season.

The tournament included teams from Carthage, Dallas City, Hamilton, La Harpe, Nauvoo, Stronghurst, and Warsaw.

Coach Broc Finch said there were 17 boys on his team and he was nervous about coaching this many. He states "I am so proud of this group of boys. They made it easy, they worked hard, had very positive attitudes and were great teammates. Regardless of the team on the field, they've impressed me. I hope these boys came away with a great experience and that it will lead to many great memories as it has for me. I am just thankful for them allowing me to be a part of their journey."
