Mayor Appoints Owsley As ESDA Director

Mayor Kat Hasten appointed Max Owsley as the ESDA director. Hasten stated, "Based on what he has been doing in the past several months as ESDA liaison, he has done a great job. He has set up meetings in town, he understands the precedent, he understands what's needed." The council approved the appointment unanimously.

Owsley accepted the position. Owsley stated "I would like to develop this program extensively..we need to prepare for earthquakes and tornadoes, etc.

Owsley mentioned to become a qualified ESDA Coordinator he would need to take about 40 hours of classes, most of which were "on-line". He also talked about making sure the siren in town worked and could be heard where it needed to be heard.

In other action the council:

The council also pointed out they would be having a joint committee meeting with IRWA/McClure's on September 27th at 5:30 p.m.

The council discussed a parking issue at a residence, rough railroad crossings in town, and the need for some black dirt for cemetery needs.

Randy Shumaker is to get a date set up with Jackson Disposal for city wide cleanup in October.

Next meeting is set for September 25th at 7 p.m.
