Sending Local Charities Blessings of Homemade Comfort Gifts: Sewn With Love

On Sunday, November 19, 2017, the Presbyterian Church of Stronghurst celebrated their "Thank Offering Sunday" reminding those in attendance that we should regularly thank God for his many gifts to us.

The women of the church conducted the service with the morning message being delivered by the very dedicated Nancy Mowen, director of Jamieson Center.

Jamieson Center in Monmouth is a service center for both Warren and Henderson Counties, which provides various assistance to Senior Citizens, children, and low income families in the two counties.

The Presbyterian Church in Stronghurst has worked with Jamieson Center for many years by providing financial assistance and donating baby quilts and blankets and stuffed animals at Christmas time for the Center's Christmas Store.

This year, the Willing Workers of the Church, with assistance from some community members, created 350 fleece blankets, crib sized quilts, and woven edge throws, approximately 150 various sized knitted or crocheted hats, and 15 scarves which were donated to service centers in our area. These centers included the FOCC (Family Outreach Community Center) in Stronghurst, Jamieson Center in Monmouth, WIC through the Henderson County Health Center in Gladstone, Lomax Food Pantry, and Dorcas's Closet in Roseville.

At Thanksgiving time especially when we look around and witness the beautiful harvest that is finishing up, we remember how we are truly blessed with are with God's gifts and hard labor. what we are given should be shared with all around us.

A small group of dedicated "Willing Workers" at the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church met weekly throughout the year and lovingly created over 350 quilts and other items for nearby outreach centers to help the many in need. It is a way of showing their love for others and their thanks to God for the many blessings he has bestowed upon them. Jesus' said (Matthew 25:40) ":Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.". King James Version.

The women's thanksgvinging gift is their doxology:

Praise, God from whom all blessings flow (James 1:17):Praise Him all creatures here below (Psalm 145:21)

Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host (Rev 5:11-14):Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Matt 28:19).
