IT'S OUR CHOICE

By Elaine Slater Reese - Spring Green, Wi.

Thanksgiving -a special day when the Pilgrims thanked and praised the Lord for the ways He had blessed them - even through the most difficult of times.

As children, we have been taught to say "Thank you" at appropriate times. For most of us it has just become a habit to say the words. But now we are beginning to hear the use of the word "gratitude". Do we have to lose something to be grateful for it? Ask those affected by the floods, hurricanes, fires, and shootings.

More and more I understand I can't change the world. But I can try to change my world. As we gather with family and friends this holiday, let's all "open the floor" for a few moments to share blessings. It may be uncomfortable at first. Not all may wish to participate. But somehow it will make a difference.

Often we focus on the negative and not the positive. And take the time to sincerely thank someone who has made a difference in your life. Most importantly, thank God for blessing us with His Son - our hope for now and forever.
