Mother's Day Gift

By Elaine Slater Reese

Of course we moms enjoy and appreciate flowers and candy and beautiful cards. Thank you! But could we share this with you?

The older we become the faster the years seem to go. We are really realizing that we won't be on this earth forever. The clock is ticking.

Many of us would be so happy- excited-thrilled if we received these gifts. Perhaps you are already doing this. Do it a little more.

If you have been neglectful in these areas, it's not too late to try it now. We would all be so blessed with the gift of your time. We know you have your own families and we are glad to see you attentive to them. But we would so like the gift of your time. It doesn't have to be long.

A few special moments where we really talk and share, a good laugh together, or maybe even some sad memories- this would be so meaningful to us.

Another gift some of us need is your respect. We are aware that respect is often lacking in our world today. Please take time - a few moments now and then will do- will mean more than you know.

For many years I have had a small clipping in my Bible. I don't know who wrote it or where it came from. The words are: "There are many ways to measure success, not the least of which is the way your child describes you when talking to a friend."

And, My Precious Child" always remember this. I am so blessed to be your mother and will always love you!
