Ravencraft Shoots Prize Turkey in Wyoming Hunt

Jeff Ravenscraft of Terre Haute-Lomax has a beautiful wild turkey beard, fan and wings to mount on his wall after experiencing his first guided hunting trip at Seven J Outfitters in Sundance, Wyoming.

His 16 1/8 lb. turkey was a beauty and he was lucky enough to shoot it on his first day out.

For three years, Jeff has been the Regional Director for the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation) whose mission is to "Save the Habitat-Save the Hunt". His job is fundraising, and as a bonus, he and top fundraisers were given a trip to hunt turkey at a lodge with a very heavy population of wild turkeys.

He and 14 other fellows each got their turkeys, plus two hunters crossed the state line into South Dakota to pick up one more a piece giving them 17-a lodge record.

Jeff said he hunted in a national forest and on private farms and one of the best parts was the natural beauty all around. He enjoyed beautiful weather, a surprise 8" of snow one day, but it soon melted and warmed enough to go back to t-shirts and shorts.

Jeff was accompanied by Dan Daly of Cuba, IL on a flight from Peoria. If you are interested in joining the NWTF local chapter in Lomax, call Jeff at 217-659-3652
