Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbor Pat Raftis who teaches Social Studies at La Harpe Junior High.

Pat was born and raised in Macomb. He attended Macomb High School graduating in 2001. While in high school high school he played football and baseball. He also wrestled.

Next Pat attended Monmouth College, graduating in 2005. At Monmouth College he was a member of the football team. He was also a member of the History Club.

He taught science at Monmouth Yorkwood High School

Then he taught at Illini West High School in Carthage before taking the job at La Harpe Junior High.

Pat also coaches football at Illini West.

Pat's parents, Tom and Sue Raftis, live in Macomb. His dad works in Carthage at A. C. McCartney. His mom was a school teacher, who is now retired. She had taught in La Harpe, Augusta and Macomb.

Pat is an only child. His grandparents, who lived in Jerseyville, have all passed away.

Pat attends The Crossing in Macomb. He enjoys all things trivia, and he enjoys following the WIU Leathernecks football and basketball teams.

Pat is engaged to be married to Sarah Squires in June of 2018. Sarah works for the State of Illinois in Springfield.

Pat and his fiancˇe made a trip to Yosemite National Park last summer. In addition to the natural beauty of the park, the trip was also memorable because they ran into President Obama at the park.

In the future Pat would like to travel. He would like to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa.
