The Wisdom Of Barnyard Bruke: Spring Like Weather, Birthday Card Shower, Definition of Conundrum, "US", Ball Point Pens, Tax Season

Greetings ta ever one in western Illinois and all readers of "The Quill."

I'm a hope'n ya all enjoyed your self on Presidents Day, last Monday.

Spring Like Weather

Next week is March already. We've had some nice weather around these parts recently. If'n it carries through into March, we should be prepared fer some dramatic change.

The old say'n that oft holds true is "If'n March comes in like a lamb, it can go out like a lion."

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that works out.

Birthday Card Shower

I'm sure everone is remember'n today the birthday of America's first U.S. President General George Washington, born February 22, 1732.

He was a found'n father of our country and responsible fer help'n acquire our country and many freedoms. He did this by pen and by sword as he was appointed the first leader of the U.S. Continental Army.

The first part of March is Dessa R's birthday, Quill Owner/Publisher. How about a card shower fer her in appreciation fer her good community work she does in her efforts of "The Quill".

Her front page pictures of take'n "The Quill" along on a trip lets a feller know "The Quill" travels quite a wide area. What say ye we see how wide an area her birthday cards might come from. (I'll probably get fired fer mention'n her March birthday!)

Definition of Conundrum

You've possibly heard the word "conundrum" used in conversation. As fer me, isolated down on the farm here in Western Illinois, I don't believe I ever heard the word used until I was over 60 years old. At first I reckoned it was a 25¢ word used by fancy pants ta brag on their vocabulary.

Now a days I hear the word used quite frequently and I'm not sure, but its possible before I was 60 years old there weren't so many "conundrums." I suppose now that I'm over 70 there are a lot more conundrums, in the world, thus it's more frequent use.

The definition of the world conundrum is: something that is puzzlin' or confuse'n.

Fer example here are six conundrums of socialism in the United States of America:

1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.

2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.

4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.

5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.

6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Think about it!

And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century.

US

That be'n said here is something Mr. Paul Genova wrote ta clear up the matter on "US." Mr. Genova has been Chief Operating Officer of Wireless Telecom Group, Inc. since June 30, 2016.

Here it is ta see what ya think of his thoughts:

I haven't said too much about this election since the start...but this is how I feel..

I'm noticing that a lot of people aren't graciously accepting the fact that their candidate lost.

In fact you seem to be posting even more hateful things about those who voted for Trump.

Some are apparently "triggered" because they are posting how "sick" you feel about the results.

How did this happen you ask? Well, here is how it happened!

You created "us" when you attacked our freedom of speech.

You created "us" when you attacked our right to bear arms.

You created "us" when you attacked our Christian beliefs.

You created "us" when you constantly referred to us as racist.

You created "us" when you constantly called us xenophobic.

You created "us" when you told us to get on board or get out of the way.

You created "us" when you attacked our flag.

You created "us" when you took God out of our schools.

You created "us" when you confused women's rights with feminism.

You created "us" when you began to emasculate men.

You created "us" when you decided to make our children soft.

You created "us" when you decided to vote for progressive ideals.

You created "us" when you attacked our way of life.

You created "us" when you decided to let our government get out of control.

You created "us" the silent majority.

You created "us" when you began murdering innocent law enforcement officers.

You created "us" when you lied and said we could keep our insurance plans and our doctors.

You created "us" when you allowed our jobs to continue to leave our country.

You created "us" when you took a knee, or stayed seated or didn't remove your hat during our National Anthem.

You created "us" when you forced us to buy health care and then financially penalized us for not participating.

And we became fed up and we pushed back and we spoke up.

And we did it with ballots, not bullets. with ballots, not riots. with ballots, not looting.

With ballots, not blocking traffic.

With ballots, not fires, except the one you started inside of "us".

"YOU" created "US".

It really is just that simple.

I Voted For Trump!

Yes I Did and Proud Of It.

Well, there ya have it then, some enterest'n thoughts on how "US" was created by Mr. Genova. I reckon me and the boys will dwell on them thoughts fer a spell.

Ball Point Pens

When NASA started sending astronauts into space they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity.

To combat this problem, Congress approved a program and NASA scientist spent a decade and over $165 million developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, on almost any surface and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C.

The Russians used a pencil...

Your taxes are due again in April.

Tax Season

As fer me, I'm a gonna end this week's column so's I can go work on this year's tax paperwork.

It seems them Russians maybe has more on the ball than we might give "em credit fer. I guess me and the boys will dwell on that fer a bit also.

Hope'n ta see youn's in church this week.

Remember: Wherever ya are, whatever ya be a do'n, "BE A GOOD ONE!"

Keep on Smile'n

Catch ya later
