Dear Editor:
I appreciate the Stronghurst United Methodist Church who invited members of many surrounding congregations to join in a group to go caroling together in the community.
The night chosen was December 2, 2017 and about 20 people gathered from at least 5 different congregations to first have chili and cookies and getting acquainted with the group who had gathered.
Pastor Lisa from the Methodist Church distributed copies of carols we could sing and Debbie Lefler and helpers provided the chili and cookies for the start of our new group to carol.
It was an excellent experience to join with fellow Christians from many other churches to work together in a community effort. I was especially pleased to see the friends and new acquaintances join in a community effort which is most important for small towns.
We caroled at Oak Lane Nursing, Oak Wood Retirement Center and several individual homes.
All of the people were happy to see us and enjoyed being remembered during this festive season. I believe all of the carolers enjoyed the singing as well as the groups we sang to.
Again, I want to commend the Methodist Church for being instrumental in starting churches from the community working together to witness to the community. Let's continue this plan of churches in the area working together toward a common cause.
