Meet your neighbor, Pastor Lisa Unger. Pastor Lisa lives part time in Stronghurst and part time in Galesburg.
Lisa was born in Galesburg and raised in Altona, where she graduated from ROVA High School (before ROWVA) in 1982. She received an associate degree in accounting from Carl Sandburg College in 1984.
Her parents, Gloria and Sam are both retired.
Lisa has two brothers, Scott, who is disabled and Mike who works at Galva Co-op.
Lisa married Chuck Unger in February of 1988. He is a conductor for BNSF Railroad.
They have two sons, Colton who is employed at the Animal Medical Center in Galesburg and Cody who is employed at Roto-Rooter/ Bailey Excavating, Inc. in Galesburg. Cody has blessed them with two grandsons, Siris, 2 years old and Jameson, 1 year old.
Lisa's grandparents, Lawrence and Garnet Gravitt of Victoria ad Janet and Francis Nordstrom of Galva are all deceased.
She has been employed at Galesburg School District #205, Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service, Sandburg Mall and Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Lisa has belonged to Faith United Methodist Church, Galesburg; Bishop Hill United Methodist Church, Bishop Hill; and First United Methodist Church, Galesburg at various times in her life.
The Stronghurst/Carman United Methodist Churches are her first assignment as a pastor.
In her spare time she enjoys movies, reading, studying the Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Lisa says, she has spent several summers with friends in Bull Shoals in the Missouri Ozarks. Also, she has taken many trips to Adventureland with the children and enjoys hosting family reunion breakfasts and Christmas Eve for her family.
In the future Lisa said, "I plan to be in ministry for the rest of my life, working and ministering alongside God's people to bring Christ's love and God's word to the world."
