The Wisdom Of Barnyard Bruke: Mushroom'n and Spring Fever, Read and Consider Budget Cuts

Greetings ta ever one in western Illinois and all readers of "The Quill."

More mushrooms are a be'n found around these parts and me mouth is a salivate'n for some friends to fetch me a batch. I could walk the woods all day long and couldn't find a mushroom if'n I tripped over one.

I heard some fellers bragg'n on find'n a goodly supply of mushrooms the other day. Each one was a try'n ta ply outa the other where their spot was located. Neither one seemed ta be will'n ta be very share'n with the other on that information even though they was both good friends. It seems though, not that good ta share that secret!

Don't forget this Thursday, April 20th is the Henderson County Genealogy and Family History Society tour of the Watson Horse and Buggy Museum in Biggsville. Mary Lynn and Jerry Weibel, along with Russell Liston will give an excellent guided tour and answer questions. Ya won't want ta miss this if'n ya enjoy history at all.

Quite a lot of field work was completed last Friday and Saturday ahead of Saturday night's rain. A lot of seed corn was planted as well.

This is a good time of year for bird watchers. Their antics and music is so pleasant and watch'n them pick up sticks and dried grass twice their size is fascinat'n.

The moles seem more active in the yards this year than what is normal. Where do those ornery critters come from anyways? It seems like they come outa no where. Them poison worms from Huffmans seems ta work, if'n anything does.

Are ya enjoy'n the pleasure of eat'n rhubarb already? I like it anyway I can eat it: pies, cakes, sauces, and what nots, even on homemade ice cream. It's even a little bit better'n popcorn on homemade ice cream, but only by a close second. Of course, homemade ice cream with anything on it or even alone, is good for me.

Now, for some interest'n information on make'n budget cuts as forwarded to me by a reader:

Read and Consider Budget Cuts

If there is even the remotest chance that this could go anywhere, I would love to know that I did something for my children and grandchildren..Please read and consider in three days, most people in the United States of America will have the message.

This is one idea that really should be passed around; and acted on through legislation if an honest person can be found to promote it and it has to be voted on by the People not Congress.

President Trump is asking everyone to forward this e-mail to a minimum of 20 people, and to ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in the United States will have the message. This is an idea that should be passed around.

The TRUMP Rule

Let's see if congress understands what people pressure is all about.

Here's where the cuts should be made!

Salary of retired US Presidents:$180,000 for life. Stupid

Salary of House/Senate members:$174,000 for life. This is stupid

Salary of Speaker of the House:$223,500 for life. This is really stupid

Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders:$193,400 for life. Stupid

You can see from the above why the cuts should be made in the government!

Average salary of a teacher:$40,065

Average salary of a deployed soldier:$38,000

TRUMP, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in five minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of congress are ineligible for re-election."

The 26th Amendment (granting the right to vote for 18-year-olds) took only three months and eight days to be ratified!

Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971, before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land-all because of public pressure. Trump is asking each person forward this information to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in the United States of America will have the message.

This is one idea that really should be passed around; and acted on through legislation if an honest person can be found to promote it and it has to be voted on by the People not Congress.

Congressional Reform Act of 2017

1. No Tenure/No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present, and future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 3/1/17. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizens legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work.

There ya has it then just as the reader sent it ta me. I got similar information a while back, but this time it was credited to Warren Buffet, who knows for sure who originated it, but it does provide some interest'n thoughts. Me and the boys will likely dwell on "em for a spell.

Well, I reckon that's it for this week. I'm a hope'n ya all had a memorable Easter weekend and were drawn closer ta your beliefs.

Hope'n ta see youn's in church this week.

Remember: Wherever ya are, whatever ya be a do'n, "BE A GOOD ONE!"

Keep on Smile'n

Catch ya later
