The La Harpe American Legion Auxiliary hosted a birthday celebration for the La Harpe Legion members and their spouses on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the Legion Hall.
The Auxiliary members decorated the hall in red, white, and blue and prepared chili and potato soup, sandwiches, pie and birthday cake.
The celebration was started with prayer. 49 people were there to enjoy the food, fellowship and a short speech by Auxiliary President Joan Siegworth.
The hall has been updated through hard work by many. New windows, new shingles, painting, fixing the floor in the east room, and a ramp to the front door.
Two new stoves that were donated will be installed now that the new flooring has been put in the kitchen. The hall is now air conditioned as well as heated.
Everyone seemed to have a good time. It was the first birthday party any of the Legion members could remember being honored by.
Well deserved and well over due.
