Meet Your Neighbor

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher

Meet Your Neighbor Malinda (Mindy) Brinton-Clark of rural Oquawka. She is blessed with a daughter Payton Clark, a sophomore at West Central High School.

She was born and raised in Warren County between Monmouth and Little York, by her parents, Donna Brinton and the Late Jim Brinton of Rural Monmouth.

Mindy has one sister Michelle Bergren, (married to Brad) who have two boys, Kenny and Jackson Bergren of rural Monmouth.

Mindy graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1997.

In high school, she was in drama club, yearbook committee, Vice President of FHA, choir and band, and was drum major her senior year.

She has had many jobs. She has worked at Far & Near Travel Agency, Cole's Photography and as the Lead Teller at Monmouth Trust and Savings Bank/Marquette Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank) and currently she is a legal secretary at Spears and Spears Law Office where she has been employed for over 16 years.

Currently, she's on West Central Athletic Boosters and has been for the last 6-7 years. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and watching her in basketball and softball.

She also enjoys watching her nephews play basketball, football and baseball. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends and taking pictures and editing photography. In the summer of 2014, Mindy's entire family, (mom, dad, sister's family, and her daughter) and Mindy spent a week in Panama City Beach, Florida. It was the first time that her sister, her kids, her daughter and she had ever seen the ocean.

Sadly, this was the last family vacation with all of them. Her dad wanted to take his grandkids on a tropical vacation to an island. After his sudden passing in May of 2015, Mindy's mom took the entire family to Montego Bay Jamaica for 8 days.

Mindy said, "One of the best parts of the trip was taking an 8x10 picture of my dad and having family pictures taken with his picture on the beach at sunset. He finally got to take his grandbabies to an island even if he wasn't there with us physically."

Mindy's future plans are to continue at my job and continue being active in Boosters and with her daughter and nephews in their respective sports, and to continue to learn editing and taking pictures.

One of Mindy's favorite quotes is:

"Be yourself, those who matter don't mind, and those who mind, don't matter."
