Meet your neighbor Jan Bailey, who teaches Special Education K-4 at La Harpe Elementary.
Jan was born in Carthage but now lives in Macomb.
Jan graduated from Carthage High School then attended Western Illinois University. She graduated from WIU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education Special Education, and a Master's Degree in Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies.
Jan has 3 brothers and a sister. Her brother Dirk, is a dispatcher with the Hancock Country Sheriff's Office and a para-medic. Brother Mike works at Griffi n Wheel in Keokuk, IA. Brother Mitch is the grocery manager at County Market in Carthage. Jan's sister, Jill, is a housewife.
She and her husband Brian Bailey were married in 2002. After their marriage they moved to Canada where they remained for 4 years.
In 2006 they returned to the United States and Jan started teaching in Beardstown. She was there for 8 years and taught all levels of special education.
This is her first year teaching Special Education K -4 with the La Harpe School District.
Jan attends the Crossing in Macomb. She enjoys walking and traveling.
She hopes to travel to California next summer and the British Isles and Italy
