Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbor - Sonia Godina, who was born in Pasadena, CA and was raised in Monmouth.

Sonia's parents are Adolfo and Martha Godina. Adolpho works for a farmer. Martha works for Farmland.

Sonia has one sister Rebecca who is a junior at Monmouth-Roseville High School. She has two brothers, Ivan who is a third grader at Harding School in Monmouth and Adolfo Jr. who is in the USMC and is stationed in California. Adolfo Jr. is married and has two children, Eva Marie (2) and Elias Alexander (4 months)

Sonia's grandparents are Maria and Pablo Godina, born in Mexico. They lived in Monmouth for 20 plus years. Grandma Maria is still living but Grandpa passed away March 31, 2007.

Sonia graduated from Monmouth-Roseville High School in 2010. She was secretary of the Senior class, and President of the Spanish Club. She also participated in track.

She attended Carl Sandburg College where she was a member of the dance team and was Vice President of the Minorities Outreach Group. She attended Midwest Technical Institute where she was a Student Ambassador. She graduated February 12, 2016 in Medical Assisting.

Sonia worked previously as a CNA at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. She worked at the Warren County YMCA where she was a receptionist, did day camp, and child care. She began working at Eagle View Community Health at the Front Desk and as an interpreter. Currently, Sonia is employed as a NCMA (Nationally Certified Medical Assistant) at Eagle View.

Sonia is engaged to Alexander Niemann who works for GE in Galesburg. They plan to marry on June 17, 2017. They have a son Christian who is a year and a half old.

Sonia attends Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoys crafts, dancing and cooking and also has a part time job selling Younique cosmetics.

She has a very close family and enjoys holidays together.

In the future Sonia would like to buy a bigger home, work at a specialty clinic, go back to school for her RN and have a larger family.
