The Wisdom Of Barnyard Bruke: "Knee-High Corn & Hail-Anti-Gun-Statistics"

Greetings to ever one in western Illinois and all readers of "The Quill."

Some got rain over Memorial Day weekend and some didn't. Isn't that about the way life is.

Fer the farmer readers and those who is interested in farmer do'ins, they say fer corn grow'n progress it's good ta have it knee high by the 4th of July. At least years ago that was a favorit say'n.

Knee High Corn and Hail

Well over the weekend, the last week of May I might remind ya, I saw several fields what was knee high already. Whilst some areas had some hail last weekend, I am unaware of any serious crop damage. Let's keep our fingers crossed as we move further inta hail season.

Anti-Gun

I read in the paper recently, not The Quill, where an anti gun organization called Americans for Responsible Solutions was promote'n legislation in Springfield called The Gun Dealer Licensing Act.

The organization was founded by former congresswomen Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head in 2011. The survey showed strong support fer more silly gun laws in Illinois.

The boys was a wonder'n how them legislatures in Springfield got time fer such nonsense when they don't have time ta pass a budget and help our schools etc.

The boys also wondered if'n a feller shot in the head was competent enough to go against the constitution, with it protection of gun ownership.

They then conducted their own survey and found her group ta be 100% wrong in every instance. This research of the boys included Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and non-gun owners. It showed that the state has enough laws on the books to crack down on illegal gun trade if'n they were only enforced.

The survey also showed people with damaged brains should stop meddl'n in our state on such nonsense and quit engage'n folk like Robin Lloyd, state legislative director fer the group, ta encourage our legislatures to give up our constitutional rights.

Anyways, as the boys was finish'n up their survey and discuss'n the logic of Springfield legislatures as it relates to some of their group with profencity fer more gun legislation, one of the local fellers provided the follow'n statistics:

Statistics

Aren't statistics wonderful

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000 approximately

(B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000 approximately

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is .171%

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is over 80,000,000 (Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188%

Statistics courtesy of FBI. So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,

BUT Almost everyone has at least one doctor.

This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!

After review'n the previous statistic one of the local fellers recommended we alert all our friends to this alarm'in threat. He felt we must ban doctors, before the situation gets completely out of hand!

The group decided, out of concern fer the public at large, ta withhold the statistics on lawyers! They was afraid the shock would cause people ta panic and seek medical attention!

As fer me, I'm withhold'n judgement on the entire matter, survey/statistics and all. I'm a gonna simply dwell on the subjects fer a spell.

Thats it fer this week folks, there ain't no more!

Have a good rest of the week.

Hope'n ta see ya in church this week.

Remember, where ever ya are, whatever ya be a do'n

"BE A GOOD ONE!"

Keep on Smile'n

Catch ya later
