Meet your neighbor Michael Van Fleet. Michael has lived his entire life in the La Harpe area.
His parents are Jack and Pam Van Fleet.
His father Jack, is retired from G.E. but he still continues to farm.
His mother Pam, works at R & M Market and Floral in La Harpe.
Michael has two (2) brothers, David and Christopher. Both still live in the La Harpe area.
Michael attended La Harpe High School, a member of the graduating Class of 1987.
He played football for the La Harpe Eagles and was a member of the FFA Club (Future Farmers of America).
After High School Michael served 3 years in the United States Army. He was deployed to the Gulf for Operation Desert Storm.
Upon his return from service Michael attended Western Illinois University where he majored in Ag Science, graduating in 2005.
Michael worked for Chem Gro for 10 years. He then worked for Rex Johnson, as did his friend Mark Jacob.
When Johnson decided to retire, Van Fleet partnered with his friend Mark Jacob in what is now known as La Moine Valley Ag Services.
Michael's fiance is Teresa Coulter. They have four (4) children- Jessica, 23, David, 14, Carter 12 and Jackson, 8.
Michael is a member of the American Legion Post in La Harpe. When he is not working, he enjoys hunting and working on home projects.
