Ruby Steck of Carman took "The Quill" along when she went to Springfield to visit her friend, Edna Carnahan, a college roommate. The ladies had attended Western Illinois Teacher College as Freshmen in 1935. The women had a good visit reminiscing about their college experience during the depression.
Edna had her picture taken with Amelia Earhart, Aviation Pioneer, who was a speaker at Western Illinois Teachers College while the girls were there.
