Wayne Humphrey, finished his 40th year working for the City of La Harpe on Tuesday, December 6th.
Humphrey has enjoyed his job of taking care of the city streets, parks, and whatever else he was asked to do, and he said, with a big smile, "or I certainly wouldn't have remained working this long!"
When asked what made his decision to retire, he responded, "I'm not getting any younger!" but I suspect from last week's congratulations advertisement from his children and grandchildren, he will keep busy with family.
His annoucement came at the June 13th board meeting earlier this year. Above, Wayne (in a file photo) is rescuing a baby bird while working at the City Park. He's appreciated by the community for always being happy to serve.
