Village of Biggsville

The Village of Biggsville Board members heard the report of Kevin Mortimer at Tuesday, December 6th regular meeting, that during the recent water main break, they found that several valves were broken.

He said, "Jimmy replaced several but they all will need to be checked in the spring to see how many need to be replaced." He also said the water will be shut off at the museum.

Brian Sterett and Kevin Mortimer were to see that the village's Christmas lights were put up.

Approximately 100 attended the Halloween wiener roast it was reported under the "Parks" report.

The bathrooms at the parks have been winterized and they would like to have two flags installed at Reid Park, one for Veterans. The concrete work that needs to be done will be postponed until Spring.

There were questions about the playground equipment at Biggs Park. Marilyn Simmons had checked with the State and they have recommendation but no specific codes for the equipment.

It was suggested that in the spring the board take a field trip behind Biggs Park to see what can be done.

Ron White has agreed to put up the kick plate at the community building.

Amanda Guyton has talked to the representative from the BNSF Railway and they have offered the village two options for the bridge on Bridge Street:

1. BNSF will take the bridge down and pay the Village of Biggsville an amount to be determined.

2. BNSF will turn the bridge over to the Village of Biggsville for an negotiable amount of money.

The village will incur all expenses for yearly inspections and any repairs from that point on.

The board will send the proposal to their attorney and it will be discussed at the January board meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:23 p.m..

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Mayor Amanda Guyton with the pledge of allegiance. All Trustees were present: Kathie Curtiss, Dick Goff, Diane Gonzalez, Kevin Mortimer, Brian Sterett and Nanci Sterett. Others present along with Mayor Guyton were Marilyn Simmons, Treasurer; and Judy L. Gravgaard, Village Clerk
