Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbor Kevin Six the mayor of Dallas City.

Kevin was born in La Harpe, but grew up in Dallas City.

His parents, Charles and Eleanor Six who lived in Dallas City are both now deceased. Charles was a mechanic and ran Six Mobil, Eleanor was a homemaker.

Kevin attended school in Dallas City, graduating from Dallas City High School in 1970. He attended Carl Sandburg College briefly then went to work at J. I. Case Company. During his employment there he also served as a union shop steward. He retired from Case after 31 ½ years.

Kevin married Sally Brewer. She was born in Burlington, IA, but after her mother married Hugh Pence she moved to the Lomax area. She graduated from Dallas City High School in 1971. Sally is retired from GE in Burlington, IA. She drives a bus for Dallas City Elementary. She and Kevin also mow grass at the elementary school.

Sally and Kevin have three children. Son Joe was born in 1973. Their daughters are Audra Kirk born in 1976, and Christine Scanlon born in 1978. Kevin and Sally have 6 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

Kevin served with the Fire Department for 25 years. In the 1980s he served on the Dallas City council as finance commissioner. He is in his 2nd year as mayor.

Kevin loves to hunt and fish. He describes himself as a  river rat . He enjoys boating but recently he has spent more time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

He is the Vice President of Des Moines Valley ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education).

When his children were younger the family took a special trip to Disney World.

He loves baseball and is a St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Kevin is a very strong Dallas City supporter. His heart is 100% for his community.

He looks forward to spending time with his grandkids and watching them grow.
