Stronghurst- "SCR" is truly a dream come true for Travis and Alicia Pence, Stronghurst natives and current residents of Biggsville.
Dreams come in many shapes and sizes. For some people dreams take them around the world. For others, it lands them close to home.
For Travis Pence, his dream laid merely footsteps from the house he grew up in.
"I always knew I wanted to have my own shop, and when I started in the Collision Repair Program at SCC, I knew I wanted it to be a body shop in Stronghurst."
The Pences opened Stronghurst Collision & Refinish (SCR) on August 1st at 114 South Commercial Street in the former building of Stronghurst Auto Body, the 57 year old business where Jack Schaley (who died in 2000), and his three sons, Roger, Ron, and Rick operated until the boys retired the end of July last month.
Travis graduated in 2008 from Southeastern Community College with a degree in Collision Repair Technology and has worked in the collision repair industry in Burlington, Iowa and in the Galesburg areas since then. Thus bringing with him knowledge of collision repair, automotive refinishing, and auto body.
Travis said his plans are for SCR to provide top quality auto body services including collision repair, frame repair, automotive refinishing, and general auto body repair.
He is offering free estimates on any vehicle damage and he says SCR is working with all insurance companies.
"We also are providing custom bodywork, paint, and graphics on classic cars, motorcycles, and pretty much anything on wheels."
"Our goal is to provide our customers with great work with great services. Each repair is special to us because that means you have trusted us to take your vehicle and make it look great"
According to Travis, many things will stay the same, including the card table for community locals to visit, and about the care for both you and your vehicle. But, he says other things will change, such as the addition of water-based paint and an upgraded paint area.
Travis hopes you will take a moment to stop in and say "hi!" SCR will remain open from 7:30-5:00 Monday through Friday.
Whether you are from Stronghurst or out of town, take a moment to stop and welcome Travis to the business district of Stronghurst.
