Julia is the principal at West Central Middle School. Julia grew up in Muscatine, IA and currently lives in Macomb.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University Mankato. Her Major was Mathematics and her Minor was Middle School Education.
Her Master of Arts degree is from Western Illinois University in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies and Educational Leadership.
She previously worked for 14 years as a Middle School and High School math teacher in Macomb; for 7 years as a math teacher at Northwestern High School in Sciota and as a Middle School math teacher in Houston, TX for 2 years.
In December she will have been married for 23 years to Craig Burns who is the Technology Director for the Bushnell Prairie-City School District.
They have two sons, 18 year old Collin who is a freshman at the University of Missouri majoring in Documentary Journalism and 16 year old Jared who is a junior at Macomb High School.
Julia is a runner who averages one road race per month. She also enjoys baking cupcakes as a hobby.
