Meet Your NeighborMeet your neighbor and West Prairie Senior Chance Dennis of Colchester.
Chance is 19 and was born on August 5, 1996 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, the son of Cindy and Mike Smith, Jr. of Colchester.
His father Mike is retired from the United States Marine Corps, and his mother Cindy is a caregiver.
Chance has one brother, Braden Smith who lives in Macomb and goes to Edison Middle School.
Chance is the grandson of Juanita and the late Wayne Oaks of La Harpe.
Chance attended elementary schools at Gorin R3 in Gorin, Missouri, and Scotland County R 1 in Memphis, Missouri, and La Harpe Elementary in La Harpe.
His high school years have been at Illini West High School in Carthage, and presently at West Prairie High School in Sciota.
His favorite high school memories include winning Regionals in baseball as a Sophomore and runner-up at Sectionals.
In high school, Chance has been involved with baseball, FFA, and the Yearbook Club.
In his spare time, Chance enjoys baseball, watching dirt track races, playing video games, and drawing.
After graduation from West Prairie High School in May, Chance plans to attend Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa to pursue a degree in video game design.
