Meet Your NeighborMeet your neighbor Joe Pilger, the new Assistant Principal at West Central Elementary.
Joe was born and raised in Macomb. His mother, Angie Larson, is the membership Director at the Macomb YMCA.
His step-dad, Jeff DeJoode, is an attorney in Macomb.
Joe's dad, Terry Pilger, works for Monsanto in Pekin.
He has a brother Chris Pilger who lives in Bloomington, a step-sister Krista DeJoode, who lives in Davenport, IA and a step-brother Carson DeJoode who lives in Champaign.
Joe attended Monmouth College from 2004 - 2008 and then Western lllinois University from 2013 - 2015.
In his previous job with Galesburg CUSD #205 he worked as a fifth grade teacher, an Outreach worker, Middle School football coach, Middle School track coach and Geography Bowl coach.
He enjoys volunteering at Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Horseback Riding facility in Monmouth.
Joe now lives in Monmouth with his wife Amanda and their three children Amelia (5 yrs.), Owen (3 yrs.), and Hudson (8 months).
Joe and Amanda were married in 2008. She is a stay at home mom to the three Pilger children and is also a "Thirty-One" consultant.
Joe plays in the worship band at Northwoods Community Church in Galesburg. He enjoys spending time with his family, going to parks, going on walks and watching movies.
He believes that "Whether you say you can or you say you can't... you're right!"
He loves the West Central community and how welcoming it has been.
