Meet your neighbor and 2015 Illini West graduate Shannon Klossing of Carthage.

Shannon was born in Keokuk, Iowa to Daniel and Theresa Klossing on November 18,1996. Theresa worked at Methode for 20 years, and is currently working at Memorial Hospital and Daniel worked at Methode for 19 years and currently works Griffin Wheel.

Shannon is the granddaughter of Shirley Rhodes and the late Kelly Rhodes, Sandy Johnson and Donald Johnson, and Raymond Curtis, Marilyn Ross and Sue Hunnicutt.

Shirley was a lead person at Methode (retired) and lives in Carthage. Kelly was a retired postal mailman and lived in Carthage. Sandy worked at Henniges in Keokuk, Iowa and lives in Keokuk. Donald works at the Lee County ambulance and the Keokuk school district; Donald lives in Hamilton. Raymond was a mailman and a veteran and lives in Keokuk, IA. Marilyn is from Carthage, was a babysitter now retired. Sue, of Carthage, was also a babysitter.

Shannon has worked at Ben Franklin's for the last two years and before that she worked at Dano's Bait and Tackle in Hamilton.

She has gotten high honors, her Wilton Cake Decorating Certificate, and she bought her own car (2005 Chevy Malibu).

Shannon's favorite vacations include camping, going to Current River, Virginia, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Steam Boat Days, State Fair, Jason Aldean, Cole Swindell, Tyler Farr, Luke Bryan, FGL, and other country band concerts.

She used to belong to the Builders Club, The Git-R-Done Club, and Girl Scouts.

Shannon helps the elderly people in her neighborhood, and has volunteered at Memorial Hospital to put the float together and walk in all of the parades. She enjoys making designer cupcakes and donating them to special events in the area.

Shannon will be going to Carl Sandburg as a full time student for business and John Wood Community College as a part time student for Culinary. In the future, she would like to open a bakery and specialize in designer cakes.
