Rural Addressing Approved

by Cindy Rhinehart-Henderson County Disaster Coordinator

On Tuesday, the Henderson County Board approved a contract with Cloudpoint Geographics of Roanoke, IL to provide GIS mapping services for rural addressing in the unincorporated areas of the county.

This project will consist of having the consultant travel the rural roads of the county and assign an address number for each residence based on GPS location.

The field crews will travel the roads and mark GPS locations along the roadway where the driveway intersects.

Once this process is completed, approximately 3 to 4 months, residents can expect to receive a change of address notification that will assign them a permanent address with a house number and road name associated with it.

Once the project is complete there should be many benefits recognized by the general public including emergency response and improved parcel delivery service.

It is important to note that residents will have up to one year to change over to the new address for US Postal Service deliveries.
