Board Discusses Monitoring Speed In Raritan

Henderson County, Illinois

The Village of Raritan trustees met in the meeting room of the Raritan Fire House June 11, 2015 with Trustees Sammy Blender, Phil Anders, Rob Williamson, Michael Knapp, Yvonne Knapp and Clerk Jim Blender answering roll call.

Clerk Blender called the meeting to order and led the trustees in saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

Trustee Blender opened with prayer.

Trustee Yvonne Knapp reported that she had talked with the sheriff about a speed limit in town. He stated that he would send more deputies to patrol the village.

The sheriff will try to get us a speed monitor to help control the speed in the village. Trustee Knapp will check with Senator Sullivan's office about this.

Village signs have not been put up. A motion was made by Trustee Yvonne Knapp, seconded by Trustee Blender to have the signs put up by July 4, 2015. Motion carried.

A discussion was held about the letters sent to residents to improve their properties. Pictures will be taken by the next meeting.

A motion was made by Trustee Michael Knapp, seconded by Trustee Williamson to approve the Prevailing Wage Ordinance. Motion carried.

A discussion was held about the Strode property.

A discussion was held regarding a new sidewalk being put in between the bank and Opera House. Mike will check with Lonnie Lucas about paying half.

A discussion was held about how to warn village residents of a tornado warning.

Minutes were read and approved from the last meeting and current bills were presented and approved for payment by the board as follows:

Dallas Rural Water $1152.93;

PDC $16.00;

Jay Blender $765.00;

IRWA $258.90;

Ameren $1135.87;

TIA Insurance $1211.00.

With unanimous approval of the board, the Thursday, June 11th meeting was adjourned to the next regular meeting night. Motion carried.
