Meet your neighbor and Illini West Senior Kayla Kaminski of Dallas City.
Kayla was raised and has lived in Dallas City her whole life. She is the daughter of Jamie and Tami Kaminski. Jamie is a UPS driver and Tami is a teacher at Carl Sandburg.
Kayla has one younger sister and one younger brother. Katie is 13 and attends Dallas City Elementary/Jr. High and Cooper is 9 and is home schooled.
Kayla is the granddaughter of Mike and Sharon Wood of Niota and Gary and Yvonne Kaminski of Dallas City. Mike worked at Case and Sharon worked as a cook at Nauvoo Colusa High School. Gary was a safety engineer at the ordinance plant and Yvonne was a secretary/bookkeeper and a stay at home mom.
Kayla is an Illinois State Scholar, is on the National Honor Society, has perfect attendance and has high honors.
Her favorite vacation memories include going to New York freshman year, going to Washington, DC with her family last summer and going to Chicago with the band.
In her spare time, Kayla enjoys spending time with her friends after school, playing the piano, playing in the band, and doing quiz bowl.
After graduation in May, Kayla plans to attend SCC in West Burlington, IA and then transfer to Western Illinois University to pursue a degree in Secondary Education.
