Stronghurst Booster Club Will Move Forward with Spray Park

The Stronghurst Booster Club held their February 2nd meeting at the Stronghurst Fire Station with President Jim Blender calling the meeting to order.

At the beginning of the meeting, all joined together in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

ĄProject Robert Pogue Memorial Spray Park:

Sadly, the Robert Pogue Memorial Spray Park committee reported that they did not receive the grant they had applied for and would have helped them complete their larger project. They were told that they could reapply for the grant in May if the group chooses to do so.

From start to finish of constructing the Spray Park, it was reported it will take 4 months after the contract is signed.

The group will have to adjust their plans to fit their budget of funds available.

Jim Blender moved to proceed with plans for the spray park. Diana Taylor seconded the motion. The motion carried.

After the January minutes and the Treasurer's report were approved and the Spray Park discussed, the board discussed the following:

Business:

• The Christmas Walk- Members were to meet Friday, February 6, 2015 at Flatt building to remove all Christmas decorations and place them in storage.
• Electronics Recycling- a motion was made by Melinda Whiteman and second by Diana Taylor to arrange a recycling group to come for a Community Drop-off Day, sponsored by the Stronghurst Booster Club. All electronics will be free to the Stronghurst Community. They are considering doing it in May. The motion was approved.
• It was reported that the monthly "Community News" in the Iowa Hawk-Eye will feature H & H for February. The March issue will be on the Stronghurst Community.
• Membership Drive- Members' dues are now due. Members will be contacting businesses and individuals for a membership drive and dues payment.
• Yvonne Knapp attended Main Street Workshop for ideas on projects for community improvements.
• Jim Blender made a motion to adjourn the February meeting. It was seconded by Jerry Keimig.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Stronghurst Fire Station.

The Booster Club board members present at the Monday meeting, along with President Jim Blender were: Diana Taylor, Lori (Hamilton) Taylor, Jerry Keimig, Yvonne Knapp, Melinda Whiteman and Jade Parker.
