IDOT Opens HWY 34 Bypass

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

 Around West Central-Biggsville

The long awaited HWY 34 by-pass around Biggsville and the West Central High School was opened by IDOT officials this past Monday (Dec. 8th), meeting their deadline of Decembe 15, 2014.

The Quill is so happy to see another piece of the long awaited HWY 34 4-lane project open for safer roads through Henderson County.

I hope each of you will thank our legislators for this feat, but keep pushing our representatives to complete this 4-lane project.

I hope each of you will also take time to thank IDOT for completing this project 7 days ahead of deadline.

Our goal is to gain the respect of our legislators and reflect upon them that we are a county who shows their appreciation for what has been done, but with real concerns about the many who are still traveling through our small county.

It's pretty amazing to me to see how fast contractors can build a 4-lane through unchartered areas while moving traffic flow, dealing with weather changes, possible equipment breakdowns, employee issues, shipping delays, legal issues, politics, health issues and still do what they do by their deadline.

With landscaping finishing up next year on the new by-pass, it will be a nice appearance to the landscape showing off our farms.

Let's get our pens out and mail a "thank you" note, and a letter of encouragment to IDOT and encourage them to continue on with the HWY 34 project to the finish.

Listed below are four of our representatives and their phone numbers.

If you are more comfortable voicing your opinion via e-mail, each representative can be contacted via their website.
