Meet your neighbor and Illini West senior Marlie Grace Burt of La Harpe.

Marlie was born on January 11, 1997 in Macomb, the daughter of Melissa and Chad Burt of La Harpe. Chad has worked at Methode in Carthage for the last 24 years and Melissa is an elementary music teacher for West Prairie.

Marlie has one older sister and one younger brother. Sister, Cassidy, is 20 and is a junior at Western Illinois University. Brother, Jonah, is 15 and a sophomore at Illini West. He plays basketball and baseball.

She is the granddaughter of Bev and Lonnie Furrow and Judy and Bill Burt all of La Harpe.

Marlie has been a babysitter for the last 5 years. During high school she has worked with special needs students at Illini West Coop for the last 4 years. She is the President of SADD and and the Git R Done Club.

Her favorite vacation spot is downtown Chicago watching the Cubs play ball.

After graduating in May 2015 , Marlie plans to attend college and pursue a degree in therapeutic recreation or speech pathology. In her spare time she enjoys volleyball, four-wheeling and hanging out with friends.
