Are You Thankful?

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

Of all the things I'm most thankful for, the fact that my parents taught me about God, our heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ his son, are the most important to me.

They modeled their faith by going with me to church and Sunday School (not just dropping me off).

They modeled Jesus' teachings in their lives with a loving and giving attitude.

They, read me Christian based stories and movies as I grew up and taught me about "The Good Book" the Bible, that can point us all in the right direction if we will study its pages, morning and night.

My parents are in heaven now, but they left me with hope of seeing them again, and a guide for living out my days. They taught me about prayer, and all the fruits of the spirit, including thanksgiving.

Expressing gratitude is pleasing to God and it also lightens our hearts. We should give thanks to the Lord for all things. The Bible says:

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord. -Psalms 92:1;

Come before His presence with thanksgiving. -Psalms 95:1-2;

Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. -Psalms 100:1-5;

Cease not to give thanks. -Ephesans 1:15-16;

Be ye thankful.-Colossons 3:15

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. -1 Thesselonians. 5:18;

I watched the first showing of the movie The Hiding Place with Corrie Ten Boon. It was a true story where she and her sister were in a filthy German prison camp for hiding Jews in their home. The guards would not go back into their prison room because it was infested in cock roaches, so they were able to have prayer meetings. Eventually, Corrie was released, and was able to tell her story of hope & forgiveness.
