Hopper Shooting Results In Attempted Murder Charge

At 8:15 p.m., shortly after sunset Monday evening, the Henderson County Sheriff's Office responded to the residence of Jack Taylor, Carman, in the area known as Hopper, Stronghurst Township to investigate a reported shooting.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. Elliot B. Sherdahl of Carman, age 53, is charged with Attempted Murder and Unlawful Aggravated use of a Weapon.

The information alleges Mr. Sherdahl drew a loaded pistol while on the property of 72 year old Jack C. Taylor and intended to use it against Jack Taylor. It alleges Mr. Taylor then shot Mr. Sherdahl with a shotgun and Mr. Sherdahl sustained injuries to his hand and face.

Mr. Sherdahl was taken to the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA by the Burlington Fire Department Ambulance for treatment and then was flown to the University Hospital in Iowa City, IA by Med-Force.

The Henderson County Sheriff reported that assisting agencies at the scene were: the Stronghurst Police Department, Dallas City/Lomax Police Department, and the Illinois State Police.
