Media Hears Of Post Office Proposal

A meeting was held in Media with Shawn Hitchcock, Abingdon Postmaster as moderator. He will be Regional Postmaster for the area.

Along with Hitchcock, was the Roseville Postmaster Barry DeJaynes who will be Administrative Postmaster for Media.

He announced that there were 129 postal surveys sent out to people in the town of Media, and out of those 129, 52 were returned which was slightly below other area towns.

Even though the response was smaller than expected, the meeting had a better turnout.

Those in attendance were Nick Roark-Media Mayor, John Link and Hugh Forbes-Township Trustees, Township-Clerk Sheila Forbes, and residents-Amy Booker, Chad Link and Eva Link.

The proposed new window hours for the Media Post Office are Monday through Friday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 to 9:45 a.m.

Patrons would be able to receive window service and pick up packages, etc. between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays while the administrative postmaster is on duty.

Patrons would still be able get into their post office boxes with their keys at any time. Hugh Forbes commented that he didn't "feel it is realistic to expect quality service without a local postmaster."

Nick Roark felt that 2:00 p.m. was not a convenient time for people to attend this meeting.
