The La Harpe City council met on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the La Harpe city
hall.
All council members were present along with audience members Dan Gillett, Tim
Graves, Doug Endres, and Christy Kienast.
The treasurer’s report for the month and the minutes from the last council
meeting were approved.
City employee Tim Graves asked the council to look into the possibility of
getting a grant to help pay for the water meters he is looking into. The
city has 631 meters with 154 of them over the 750,000 gallon range. Mayor
Brown will look into the situation.
The council was reminded that there is still money from a memorial for an
entrance sign to the cemetery if anyone had any ideas for one.
The council liked the answers that have been given for the question of the week
in the Quill. Mayor Brown mentioned that there is a Facebook page called Hancock
County Retail Warriors to help promote the businesses in Hancock County.
It was announced that the Tonneau cover for the La Harpe squad truck has been
put on.
Jackson Disposal was contacted with the complaints the council has been having in town and has resolved to clear
them up.
Darrell Kraft was appointed for the Steering Committee for the new referendum
drive for the new Illini West High School.
Dan Gillett announced that the window at the Historical Society has been fixed,
but there are loose bricks on the chimney that need looked at.
Next meeting will be Monday, February 11, 2013 at La Harpe City Hall.
